🔹 Remote Trade Mark Secretary / Paralegal (South African Experience)
Location: Remote (South Africa: Cape Town, Johannesburg or Pretoria preferred)
Role: Part time or Full Time
Compensation: R17,000 – R45,000/month (negotiable), depending on experience, skillset, and hours (pro rata for part-time).
We’re looking for an experienced trade mark secretary or paralegal to support our growing practice.
You should have:
- 3–5+ years’ experience at a top-tier SA IP firm (trade mark focus).
- Group 1 SAIIPL Exam pass (preferred, not essential).
- Proven experience in trade mark searches and drafting reports (samples encouraged).
- Familiarity with CIPC Trade Mark Department processes (contacts a plus), Trade Marks Act and Regulations.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
- Tech-friendly mindset — comfortable with cloud systems, AI tools, and improving workflows.
- Great client communication and impeccable (perfect) writing.
What the role involves:
- Filing trade mark applications, renewals, assignments, changes of ownership and other standard prosecution.
- Conducting searches, shortlisting results, and assisting with search reports.
- Managing portfolios, deadlines, and client communications.
- Preparing office action responses and supporting attorneys on oppositions/cancellations.
- Client intake and relationship management.
- Helping refine legal-tech workflows and AI-assisted processes.

🔹 Trade Mark Litigation Attorney (Flexible / Remote)

Compensation: Competitive and negotiable, with upside for client origination and additional contributions.
We’re seeking a skilled attorney to lead and manage trade mark litigation and disputes.
You should have:
- Admission as an attorney in South Africa.
- 5-10 years’ IP litigation experience.
- Solid understanding of trade mark and intellectual property law, opposition and enforcement.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex disputes.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
- Tech-friendly mindset — comfortable with cloud systems, AI tools, and improving workflows.
- Great client communication and impeccable (perfect) writing.
What the role involves:
- Handling trade mark oppositions, cancellations, and enforcement.
- Advising clients and drafting legal opinions.
- Supporting registration team with complex matters.
- Representing BrandLaw clients before tribunals and courts
